For centuries, hymns have brought sadness, joy, faith and doubt into people’s daily lives and celebrations. The rich words and music in our hymns are designed to preserve and renew tradition. This is a far from static tradition, evolved through the new interpretation of today’s composers, poets and performers. In this album, three composers, Marcus paus, Marianne reidarsdatter Eriksen and Morten Christopher Sen, created new works based on ancient hymns. Here, the power of the tradition of hymns can be demonstrated, and the new arrangement and composition of songs have renewed the ancient words.
