海竹·山竹 (Winds of Bamboo)
When I record live in various places, I feel a lot of gentle and harmonious experience, just like the peace I feel in the bamboo forest. Since ancient times in Japan, we have often set up bamboo groves in some gardens, including Zen temples. Although it is not blown by the wind, it is said that the sound of bamboo is also very strong, and sometimes there is a soft sound like touching. The slow rise of notes and subtle sounds can be sensed interestingly. In contrast to volume, the taste and depth of tones are more vivid.
The sound produced by rubbing bamboo leaves contains a large number of sound components over 20kHz or higher. It’s said to produce alpha waves in our brains that promote relaxation. We mainly use the sound of the bamboo forest to make this surround sound album.
Choose the location of the live recording in inatori, the tip of the Izu Peninsula. Here, a strong wind comes from behind. On one side of the sea, there is a sea breeze blowing from the Pacific Ocean to the seashore reefs. At the same time, there is a leading bamboo forest in Japan. In sharp contrast to the sound of bamboo groves on the quay walls, on the highlands of Izu, the bamboo that emits mid bass is called bear bamboo, which spreads slowly with the wind from behind. There are some differences in the sound recorded and produced in these two places.
Playing Zen: the musical part is played by Okuda atsushiya, the prototype of Chiba.
