鲍勃·詹姆斯（Bob James）是一名美国的爵士乐作曲家、钢琴演奏家。他可以说得上是位成功的作曲家，并努力推动爵士音乐，放克音乐的先驱，他对于这类音乐的贡献远过于技术上的表现。他早期曾为不同的乐队伴奏，工作之余积极参与录音的工作，并和当时颇负盛名的爵士乐手们共事，1973年他加入了CTI音乐工作室，并为多名爵士音乐家监制唱片发行。 1963发表了他个人首张专辑《Bold Conceptions》。到1974年他发表了他个人首张数字系列专辑《ONE》，深获好评，从那时起在从事音乐工作的十年间终于有了质的飞跃，几年内又陆续地发表了三张同系列的专辑，慢慢的他开始与一些爵士顶尖乐手接触，吸收他们在音乐上的理念，融合他们音乐上的技巧，更充实了他日后作品的内涵。
